The Los Angeles chapter of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF) continues its popular monthly gatherings at the junction of film & finance with a special Film Financing Townhall at the renowned Columbia College. Their facilities are conveniently located just off Melrose Avenue in Hollywood.

This grassroots community get-together is designed to foster & inform productive relationships between attendees. It provides unbiased insight & education about the business of film and film financing in particular. The event features a powerful roster of highly topical speakers from the filmmaking and financial industries. We are delighted to welcome real-world financiers among our guests!

The evening's five seven presentations plus panel discussion address key issues relevant to filmmakers, financiers and anyone interested in the economics, business mechanics, and financial dynamics of motion pictures. They are followed by Q&A time. Attendees also have ample opportunity to interact & network with our featured experts and amongst themselves.

An informal après-meeting celebration will take place at a nearby restaurant.

Moderator headshotThe event will be moderated by Brad Littlefield (bio), a successful high-tech professional turned award-winning film producer. Over the course of his career, Brad has worked with some of the most exciting startups in Northern and Southern California, among them such runaway successes as YouTube. Pursuing his love for the arts and film in particular, he co-founded DAP Studios in Los Angeles and has so far produced one feature-length movie, which was shot in New Mexico. The film recently won several festival prizes including the prestigious New Mexico Filmmaker Award. Brad believes in public service and actively supports many nonprofits. Host logoThis month's Film Financing Townhall in Los Angeles is hosted by the esteemed Columbia College, whose five-week "Semester in L.A." immersion program takes place in Hollywood. With more than 120 programs of study and nearly 12,000 students, Columbia College Chicago is the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the United States. Occupying 22 buildings in the heart of Chicago's South Loop, Columbia nurtures the nation's largest concentration of young creative talent. In addition to a solid academic foundation, students gain real-world experience through internships and part-time jobs in one of America's most dynamic and vibrant cities.

Very special thanks for making this event possible go to Jon Katzman, the Executive Director of Columbia's Semester in L.A.. The program offers select students highly intensive coursework, helps them rise to the top of an extremely competitive market, and provides a rare opportunity to experience the business of Hollywood first hand on a studio lot with industry professionals. Classes are held at the historic Raleigh Studios complex, Hollywood's oldest and longest continually-operated movie studio. Many graduates have gone on to work in production offices, on TV shows, at talent agencies and on film sets.

Donna Freed

Speaker headshot 1Donna Freed is the Co-Founder of Phaz2 marketing agency, which specializes in mobile technology for marketing campaigns. She is also an accomplished advertising, sales and marketing executive with a particular emphasis on the entertainment industry and emerging media trends. She started in the newspaper industry, at the L.A. Daily News, then the L.A. Times, where she quickly rose to VP of Advertising and Marketing. At the Times, she developed the Entertainment section into the category of advertising revenue. She then moved to enter the digital/online media space, as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Hollywood.com. She was also part of the executive team that launched Movietickets.com and Broadway.com. She is the former President of Terry Hines and Associates, which served clients such as Warner Bros, Disney, MGM, New Line Cinema and Focus Features. (more) »

Bob Lewis

Speaker headshot 2Bob Lewis is currently Chief Financial Officer at Hyde Park Entertainment, currently overseeing films such as "Street Fighter," "Dead of Night" and "The Other End of the Line." He started his career at the CBS Studio Center, in Accounting and Finance, working on "Hill Street Blues," "St. Elsewhere," "Remington Steele," "Roseanne," "WKRP in Cincinnati" and "Seinfeld." He then transitioned to Stephen J. Cannell Productions as a production estimator for "The A-Team," "Hunter" and "The Last Precinct." He worked with Cannell Films of Canada on "21 Jump Street," "Wiseguy" and "Booker." Returning to Los Angeles, he joined MTM Entertainment as Vice President of Production Operations, leading all MTM and Family Channel productions. He was also Vice President of Production and Program Operations at Studios USA, leading financial management on various in-house productions as well as the "Law & Order" franchises. (more) »

Trish Cook

Robert Dudelson

Speaker headshot 4Robert Dudelson is currently Co-President and Chief Operating Officer of Taurus Entertainment Company. He started as a film booker, then served as General Sales Manager for New Line Cinema and was directly involved in the planning and marketing of "A Nightmare on Elm Street." He was a Founder and Vice President of Artist Entertainment Group, which handled such films as "Demons 2" (Dario Argento), "Wired," the cult classic "Class of 1999." The company merged with United Film Distribution Company, a division of United Artist Entertainment, to form Taurus Entertainment. Taurus released such films as "Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam," "Best of the Best" and many more. Mr. Dudelson has been Executive Producer of ten motion pictures and two television series for Showtime Networks/Viacom, and he produced "Masterminds" for Columbia Pictures. (more) »

Jean Scoccimarro

Speaker headshot 5Jean Scoccimarro has been working as a Casting Director in Los Angeles and New York, and has cast everything from Movies of the Week, pilots, series, films of all budgets, public service announcements, webisodes and commercials. She started with the TV series "Tales From the Darkside," produced by horror legend George Romero. Her biggest discovery occurred in the early 90s, when she found Angelina Jolie (who had just turned 17) through her acting teacher at the Lee Strassberg Institute. Ms. Scoccimarro is currently finishing the casting of an independent horror thriller for director and producer Greg Avellone, Kevin Costner's VP of Tig Productions. She has worked for Peter Jackson, Robert Zemeckis, Jerry Bruckheimer, Joel Silver, John Gray, Russel Mulcahy, Armand Mastroianni and others. (more) »

Sandy Holmes

Speaker headshot 6Sandy Holmes is the Co-Founder of the marketing agency Phaz2, and a marketing and sales executive who has built a reputation for creating groundbreaking programs for brands and clients. She began as a business development manager in radio, and was quickly promoted to sales manager before transitioning to television at ABC-TV, and developing the sales and marketing department for KCET-TV. Following her achievements there, Holmes went to KTLA-TV, where she transitioned the Tribune station's local sales team from an independent force to a national sales organization for The WB Network. She is also the former Senior Vice President, and Managing Director West Coast for teen television network Channel One. (more) »

Frank Coppola

A growth organization, Edutainment serves individuals, businesses and corporations with its unique expertise in identifying and capitalizing on trends, value-focused marketing and branding, as well as introducing or repositioning products and services to drive revenue and earnings growth in highly competitive and varied markets. As President of Channell Communications, Mr. Coppola implemented "Digital Intelligence" and "Integrating Marketing" projects for such clients as Mobil, Merrill Lynch, Chase, Orinoco Cigars and eSpeed/Cantor Fitzgerald. As Director of E-Commerce Development for Advanced Media, Inc., he created kiosks for GNC, Buena Vista TV, Disney, NAPTE and Lexus. As Founder and Executive Producer of McCall/Coppola@Filmfair, a pioneer of special effects, live action and mixed media TV commercial production with offices in New York, London and Los Angeles, he facilitated marketing campaigns for advertising agencies. In addition, Mr. Coppola produced numerous innovative TV, film and music projects for AT&T, IBM, Columbia Pictures, KFC, Amoco, Burger King, Miller Beer, 7-Up, Goodyear Tires, "Starman," Kraft Foods, Denny's, Johnson & Johnson and Ford. He also co-authored "The Architecture of Film" with Rod McCall, the classic how-to book on special effects. Most recently, Mr. Coppola was the Media and Entertainment Leader and Strategist for management consulting firm Luminant Worldwide, where he worked on Atkins, M&M's and A&E, and a Partner at integrated marketing company The Veritas Group. Before that, he helped spearhead the New York office for consulting firm Groundswell and worked as Director of Sales at ARC Studios. Throughout his career, Mr. Coppola has been actively engaged as an entrepreneur, business strategist, management consultant, visioneer, new business developer, relationship manager, musician, recording artist, author, TV commercial producer, motivational speaker and practicing clinical psychotherapist. A former Certified Teacher with the New York City Board of Education for 8 years, he taught students to explore their creativity, imagination, processing and essential learning skills through film, music, math and reading. Mr. Coppola graduated from St. John's University and holds an MA in Education from New York University (NYU). Brad Littlefield

Speaker headshot 10Brad Littlefield has worked with successful high technology startups in California, as well as in film production and television. In 2008, he co-founded DAP Studios, and in 2009, he produced his first feature film, "Becoming Eduardo" (Seth Adkins, A Martinez, Elizabeth Pena), which was shot in New Mexico. "Becoming Eduardo" recently won Best Latino Film 2009 at the Santa Fe Film Festival, along with the prestigious New Mexico Filmmaker Award. It was recognized as Best New Mexican Film and Audience Choice at the 2010 White Sands International Film Festival. Brad's entertainment experience includes talent and casting for MTV Networks and project management for YouTube. He is currently working with Open Range Pictures on the feature films "Traveling Salesmen" and "Desert Water," and with Remote Films on "The Devil of Appalachia." His interest in public service has led to active participation with many non-profit organizations including The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center's Legal Services Department, The San Mateo County Center for Domestic Violence Prevention and Performing Arts Studio West. Thomas Trenker
